Howe handed triple boost and illness worry ahead of Man Utd clash - The Telegraph

According to The Telegraph, Anthony Gordon has recovered from an ankle injury ahead of schedule and will be fit to feature in Sunday's clash with Manchester United.

The winger hasn't featured since our 2-0 defeat to Man City - his only start since sealing a £45m move from Everton - but will return this weekend in Miguel Almiron's absence.

Almiron is expected to be out 'until the end of April' with a thigh injury, however it seems Eddie Howe has also been given some good news on Nick Pope and Fabian Schar.

Both withdrew from representing their countries over the international break with knocks, but The Telegraph report that they'll be fine for Sunday's crucial top-four clash at St James' Park.

The concern, however, lies with Sven Botman. After his first call-up to the Dutch senior side, he and four others were forced to leave the Netherlands camp due to food poisoning and it's thought Newcastle are currently unsure if he'll recover in time for this weekend's game.

So, Gordon will be back in the squad, Pope and Schar fit to start, Almiron out for another month and Botman touch and go as he recovers from illness.
