Sky Sports: Former Newcastle boss now under serious consideration for vacant Leicester job

Former Newcastle head coach Rafael Benitez is being considered by Leicester to replace Brendan Rodgers, according to Sky Sports.

The Foxes have been in terrible form since the World Cup break and find themselves second bottom in the Premier League and at serious risk of relegation.

Chairman Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha flew into the UK to discuss what would ideally be a long-term appointment, but their options are limited no relegation looks a real possibility.

It is believed that Graham Potter and Thomas Frank are Leicester's top priorities but that they are unlikely to take the job until at least the summer, meaning other candidates to have an immediate impact are being considered.

Benitez is one name that is being discussed, with the Spaniard having been out of a job since he was sacked by Everton in January 2022, but it is unclear whether he would be willing to accept a short-term role.

Leicester lost once again last night, with a 2-1 defeat to Aston Villa leaving them second bottom and two points from safety.
