Leicester set James Maddison price amid interest from Newcastle and Spurs - The Telegraph

According to The Telegraph, Leicester City are set to demand £50m for Newcastle and Tottenham target James Maddison.

Eddie Howe is hoping to add the attacking midfielder to his squad for next season, with us having two bids rejected by the Foxes last summer.

Tottenham have also joined the race for the England international and are said to be ‘leading the chase’ - although you wonder how the top-four race will impact where he ends up.

With the Toon currently holding the advantage for securing Champions League football - we are three clear of Spurs with one game in hand - it could play a huge role in persuading the 26-year-old to come to Tyneside should we finish above the North London side.

This makes achieving European football even more important - not just for the commercial deals it will help us secure, but also the type of players who will suddenly become available to us. 

As for the price tag, £50m seems fair for a player of his quality, yet there could be some wiggle room when you consider he's about to enter the final 12 months of his contract.
