Agent of €50m winger meets with Newcastle officials after surprise trip to England - Report

As reported by 90min, Newcastle have met with the representatives of Barcelona's Ousmane Dembele following his trip to the North East.

The winger had been spotted at the Stadium of Light, watching Sunderland's clash with Sheffield United last month as a guest of friend and chairman Kyril Louis-Dreyfus.

Dembele, whose career at Barcelona has been massively hindered by a number of injuries, has just over a year remaining on his current contract. An end-of-season move seems likely, with a release clause in his deal allowing him to leave for €50m (£44m) this summer.

The Frenchman signed for the Catalan club back in 2017 for a staggering fee in excess of £90m but has never truly lived up to the potential he had shown while at Borussia Dortmund.

It remains to be seen just how serious we are about signing the 25-year-old, but 90min have been informed Newcastle made 'brief' contact with Dembele's representatives during his short stay in the North East.
