Supercomputer predicts final PL table as Toon battle Man U, Spurs & Liverpool in top-four race
The statisticians at FiveThirtyEight are still very confident Newcastle United will seal a top-four finish - despite last weekend's 3-0 defeat at Aston Villa.
The popular site uses form, data across the season and upcoming fixtures to predict Premier League results; and their latest forecast makes positive reading for Eddie Howe's Mags.
They believe we will finish 4th on 70 points - three behind Man Utd - and reckon we have a 73% chance of qualifying for the Champions League, as things stand.
Brighton are tipped to finish in 5th and six adrift of Newcastle, while Liverpool are backed to end the season in 6th following their 6-1 win at Leeds last night.
At present, Spurs seem our biggest rivals, sitting just three points behind us in the league table, yet FiveThirtyEight rate their top-four hopes at just 7%, backing them to end the season 7th and eight points behind Newcastle.
