French media claim Newcastle have joined race to sign €30m centre-back - One to watch?
According to reports in France, Newcastle are showing interest in bringing OGC Nice star Jean-Clair Todibo to St James' Park this summer.
This comes from L’Équipe, who claim that Newcastle, Man Utd and Liverpool are all big admirers of the 23-year-old centre-back.
Todibo recently earned his first call-up to the French national team and is expected to leave at the end of the season after developing into one of the best defenders in Ligue 1.
L'Equipe report that €30m could be enough to seal a deal, although Nice could yet demand an additional €10m for the former Barcelona talent.
This could make plenty of sense for Newcastle United, as Todibo ticks several boxes. We're believed to be in the market for a young, right-sided centre-back able to compete with Fabian Schar and add pace to our back line - and the Frenchman could offer all of those things.
He has big potential, wouldn't cost a huge amount and is an athletic ball player who could be an ideal partner for Sven Botman in years to come. One to watch and a deal well worth pursuing if he's available at the right price.
