Alan Shearer involved in heated exchange with former referee after VAR drama - Watch here

Alan Shearer was involved in a heated debate with Dermot Gallagher after Newcastle had a penalty decision overturned by VAR for what was deemed to be a clear and obvious error by the referee.

Chris Kavanagh had initially awarded a penalty for a handball from Jakub Kwiwor, but was advised to check the monitor after replays showed it may have hit his thigh.

The Toon legend was quite clearly frustrated at the decision and argued with Gallagher about whether or not it was 'clear and obvious' enough to overturn - especially when it took so many replays to decide.

During the debate, Shearer demanded to know if Gallagher could be '100% certain' that the ball hit the defender's leg and claimed that he 'must have better eyes than me' after he agreed with the decision.

At that point in the game it was still 0-0 and a goal would have completely changed the outcome, but it's another tough pill to swallow from VAR and we simply have to swiftly move on to the next game.
