Sean Longstaff injury update after visiting specialist - Good and bad news for Newcastle
As revealed by The Mail's Craig Hope, Sean Longstaff has NOT broken a bone in his foot after seeing a specialist, but 'remains doubtful' for this Saturday's trip to Leeds.
The midfielder was on the receiving end of a late challenge at Everton and it was feared he may have suffered a break after he was forced to miss Sunday's 2-0 defeat to Arsenal. However, it seems Longstaff has escaped a serious injury after further assessment on Tuesday.
So, it's a relief to hear he will play again this season but a concern that he could miss this weekend's game. In the last three fixtures he's missed, we've lost twice to Aston Villa and Arsenal, with us looking particularly open and overrun in midfield on both occasions.
He could be a big miss at Elland Road, but he's not been ruled out just yet. Elsewhere, we'll have to hope Joelinton is OK after the Brazilian was spotted limping away from St James' Park on Sunday afternoon.
