Eddie Howe sends brilliant message to nervy Newcastle fans - Another touch of class

Eddie Howe has assured Newcastle fans that there is still a lot of ‘belief’ within the squad to go and secure Champions League football, reminding everyone that it is ‘still in our hands’ despite Saturday's draw to Leeds/

The Magpies could achieve a top four finish with wins in our next two fixtures which both come at home against Brighton and Leicester over the next seven days.

Following what was a disappointing draw to Leeds, Howe remained upbeat about our chances and issued a rallying call to supporters ahead of our back-to-back games at St James’ Park.

The 45-year-old also reflected back on the start of the season to remind us what wee would have done to be in the driving seat for Champions League with just three games remaining.

It will no doubt be a tough game against Brighton on Thursday, especially after their 3-0 win over Arsenal, but St James’ Park has been a fortress for us this season and the players will be desperate to drag us over the line.

Here’s what Howe's had to say ahead of our huge double header:

“We go into these next two games with belief we can get the job done but it’s never that easy and that showed (at Leeds).

“Leeds, with a new manager and style of play, that is very difficult to play against, and a crowd that were in the game, made it a really tough match for us.

“We have to be very positive. It’s still in our hands, we have three huge games to come.

“Sometimes you have to take yourself back to the start of the season and what we would have thought to be in this position now.

“Everyone at the club would have taken that. It’s in our hands and we have to be very positive about what’s ahead.”
