New name discussed in Toon transfer talks after impressing Howe at St James' Park - Report

As revealed by The Telegraph, Newcastle United have added Leeds midfielder Tyler Adams to their list of potential summer targets.

It's reported that the 24-year-old has been discussed in end-of-season transfer talks, with Eddie Howe impressed by his 'character and combative nature' during a 0-0 draw at St James' Park back in January.

He held his own that day, snapped into tackles and even clashed with our very own Bruno Guimaraes, showing he doesn't shy away from a challenge both on and off the ball.

The USA star saw his season end early due to a hamstring injury picked up in March and looks set to leave Elland Road following their relegation. It's thought he'll be available for 'less than £30m.'

Adams shone at the World Cup and was Leeds' best player in an otherwise dismal season. The Telegraph add that his ability to play through the middle or at full-back also appeals to the club, making him another early one to watch in our search for a new defensive midfielder.

Personally, I'd see him as a shrewd addition to the squad and player who fits in with the tough, no-nonsense nature of this tight-knit group, but I don't think he's the high-ceiling No 6 fans are hoping for heading into the summer window.
