talkSPORT: Newcastle eyeing defender with £42m release clause - Man Utd also keen

According to some 'breaking news' from talkSPORT, Newcastle United have their eye on Napoli centre-back Kim Min-jae.

They report that the South Korean star has a £42m release clause in his contract and is also attracting big interest from Man Utd, with Erik Ten Hag keen to make a move.

This isn't the first time we've been linked with the 26-year-old, as renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano revealed that Newcastle scouts had travelled to watch the defender over the final few weeks of the Serie A season; which saw Napoli lift their first league title in 33 years.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT last month, he said: "Clubs are exploring the situation for Kim. So, I will keep the race open because, for example, Newcastle scouts have been in attendance in the last few weeks to keep an eye on Kim. The situation remains open with Man United interested.”

He added yesterday that he's Man Utd's number one transfer target in their search for a new centre-back, so we'll face stiff competition should we activate that £42m release clause.
