Newcastle fear £40m target will price himself out of Toon move and join Man Utd - Report

According to The Mail, Newcastle fear Napoli defender Kim Min-Jae will price himself out of a summer move to St James' Park.

Craig Hope reports that we are big admirers of the centre-back, but believe his salary demands are beyond our current wage structure, making Man Utd the favourites for his signature.

The 26-year-old has just enjoyed a superb season with the Italian club, where he played a huge part in helping them to the Serie A title and earned himself recognition as one of Europe’s top defenders.

It's believed a £40m release clause exists in his contract, sparking interest from Newcastle; who are in the market for a right-sided centre-back this summer. However, there is a feeling that the South Korean will end up in Manchester as we are currently unwilling to match his salary demands.

At some point this structure will have to gradually increase so that we can attract these elite level players, but for now it looks like our focus is on discovering and developing exciting talents who won't cost a bomb.
