Tottenham launch double bid for TWO Newcastle targets - Report
Some 'breaking news' has emerged from The Mail in the last few moments, reporting that Tottenham have launched a 'joint bid' worth £50m for James Maddison and Harvey Barnes.
With Leicester valuing each at around the £60m mark this time last year, Spurs' low-ball offer is set to be rejected immediately.
In truth, it's a cheeky offer from Daniel Levy. Our 'big six' rivals may have made an early move, attempting to bring both Toon targets to North London, but The Mail expect it to be laughed off by Leicester chiefs; who are reportedly holding out for £50m for Maddison alone.
Spurs have identified the 26-year-old as their 'priority' target this summer, suggesting Eddie Howe and Ange Postecoglou will battle it out for his signature.
As for Barnes, the piece names Newcastle, Aston Villa and West Ham as admirers of the left winger, although a recent piece from Craig Hope suggested he will NOT be pursued following the January arrival of Anthony Gordon.
Hopefully Tottenham's derisory offer is a sign of things to come and we beat them to a deal for Maddison; who's currently away with England ahead of our EURO 2024 qualifiers against Malta and North Macedonia.
