Sky Sports: Newcastle attempting to pull off exciting double deal as two top targets go public
Following reports of a €50m bid last night, Sky Sports have released their information on Newcastle's pursuit of Sandro Tonali.
In a Monday morning update, Sky presenter (and well known Newcastle fan) Pete Graves has revealed that the AC Milan midfielder and Leicester City's James Maddison are our two primary targets.
He reports that we are 'very keen' on Tonali and are working hard to strike a deal with Milan, with the club attempting to start the summer window with the signings of two top midfielders.
The 23-year-old Italian has been watched 'numerous times' by the club and will captain Italy at the U21 European Championships this month. Graves adds that we have 'alternative options' on the list - one being Inter star Nicolo Barella - but Tonali and Maddison appear to be at the top of our shopping list.
Fabrizio Romano reported yesterday that we'll make a big push for Maddison this week, but want a decision 'soon' from the Foxes attacker. With a bid in for Tonali and talks taking place, it could be an important few days on Tyneside.
