Two players pushing to sign - Personal terms 'agreed' & Saint-Maximin set for talks - Report

The Telegraph have released another exclusive on Newcastle's transfer plans, featuring an update on Allan Saint-Maximin and ongoing pursuits of Harvey Barnes and Tino Livramento.

Luke Edwards reports that Barnes is 'pushing' to seal a move to St James' Park and has already agreed personal terms with the club, while Livramento is also 'very keen' to arrive on Tyneside.

However, it's thought Saint-Maximin may be sold to fund a move for both, not only to ease FFP restraints and boost our budget, but due to ongoing concerns about his game time under Eddie Howe.

The Telegraph report that clubs in Saudi Arabia and across Europe have been in contact with his agent since the end of the season over a potential move. ASM stated he is "happy to be back" on social media over the weekend and was full of smiles when returning to training on Sunday, but Howe is expected to sit down with the winger to discuss his future in the coming days.

Interestingly, the piece adds that Saint-Maximin's sale would not only fund a move for Barnes - who we are currently in talks with Leicester to sign - but boost our hopes of landing Livramento after our opening two bids for the right-back were rejected by Southampton.

A decision on Saint-Maximin's future is expected to arrive in the next few days. It seems he isn't pushing for a move away, but a discussion must be had about his role next season and commitment to the project if he is no longer guaranteed starts.

Hopefully fringe players can be sold instead, Barnes and Livramento can be signed at reasonable fees and Saint-Maximin can stay with us ahead of what promises to be a jam-packed season at St James' Park.
