Update on Sven Botman's ankle injury arrives on Monday & Elliot Anderson handed first call-up

According to The Mail's Craig Hope, Sven Botman looks to have escaped a serious injury after he was forced off in yesterday's 2-1 defeat to Liverpool.

The North-East reporter says the 'early indications' suggest he's avoided any 'serious damage', although the club are awaiting more news ahead of Saturday's trip to Brighton.

It's believed the injury is 'not as bad as first feared', easing fears that the Dutchman could be set for a long spell on the sidelines.

Elsewhere, Elliot Anderson has received his first call-up to the senior Scotland squad ahead of next month's international break.

The Geordie youngster is eligible to play for England, but could come up against Gareth Southgate's side when Scotland take on the Three Lions on September 12th.

So, it's promising news for Botman and brilliant to see Anderson's receive his first senior call-up after an impressive pre-season under Eddie Howe.
