Eddie Howe one of 4 considered as Gareth Southgate plans England exit - Report

by Andrew Reynolds ·

According to the Daily Mail, Eddie Howe is one of four managers the FA have considered with Gareth Southgate expected to walk away from the England job after next summer's Euros. now expected t after the Euros.

The ‘dream appointment’ remains Man City's Pep Guardiola, but they have previously explored other options as England plan for life after Southgate.

Howe’s name has been mentioned, along with Graham Potter - who is currently out of work - and Mauricio Pochettino, though both Howe and Pochettino are currently part of long-term projects at Newcastle and Chelsea.

Should Howe have another successful season at St James' Park, you’d struggle to find a reason as to why he'd drop this exciting project on Tyneside for what is an extremely difficult job.

We don’t know how highly he’d value the role, but he's a young manager who seems to love the day-to-day nature of Premier League management, meaning the England role may be something he considers later in his career?

When asked about the England links last September, Howe said: “I’d never say never, or say ‘no, it won’t be something I’m interested in’, but in the short term it’s not on my radar. It’s all Newcastle and investing on trying to make this team the best I can.“
