£75m duo axed from Champions League squad after Group F draw with Newcastle - Report

According to RMC Sport, former Toon target Hugo Ekitike and Italian midfielder Marco Verratti have been left out of PSG's Champions League squad ahead of Group F games with Newcastle United.

The French giants were left unimpressed by Ekitike's behaviour over the final few days of the summer window, where he rejected several moves, including a loan switch to Frankfurt that almost scuppered their £76m deadline day move for Randal Kolo Muani.

The young striker snubbed a move to St James' Park 12 months ago and has struggled for game time since sealing a £35m move to Paris. Now, he's messed another club about and has been axed from their Champions League plans as a result.

It's safe to say that we dodged a bullet with this transfer, as his attitude appears to be the exact opposite to the type of player we want to attract.

Elsewhere at PSG, Marco Verratti has also been omitted from their squad, with the £40m-rated midfielder closing in on a move to Qatari side Al Arabi.
