"Newcastle left me sick" - Série A star launches attack on Eddie Howe's Mags after Milan draw

by Andrew Reynolds ·

Former Juventus midfielder Arturo Vidal - currently at Série A club Athletico Paranaense - has claimed our 0-0 draw at AC Milan was 'the worst game in the history of the Champions League', labelling our play 'disgusting'.

Admittedly it wasn't the prettiest game to watch as a neutral, but at the end of the day, Eddie Howe and his squad are there to get a result, not to entertain.

Context is also important in this situation - our first game in the Champions League for two decades away at the San Siro, we're hardly going to go all guns blazing.

It's one thing for the Chilean to be disappointed in our showing, but to claim it as 'disgusting' and that we 'don't do anything' is just a bizarre, with these baseless claims proving he watched very little of us last season.

Here's Vidal's full quotes from his live Twitch stream on Tuesday night:

"I saw the worst game in the history of the Champions League - Milan and Newcastle, how they play that match in the Champions League, crazy.

"Not like the one between Porto and Shakhtar, great. Boring City, as always. The one between PSG and Borussia, the second half was good, in the first half I fell asleep. But those fools from Milan with Newcastle left me sick.

"They are lucky because they only know how to run, otherwise they wouldn't be there. I don't understand Newcastle, they come fourth in the league, but they don't do anything, disgusting.

"They have to risk their lives, if it is their first game, show a little more, they left me as angry as hell. This is Champions."
