Newcastle flop scores from 50 yards following free agent move to France - Watch goal here
Two years after leaving Newcastle, former Toon flop Henri Saivet has scored a brilliant goal from just beyond the halfway for Ligue 2 side Pau.
The midfielder quickly turned on halfway and lobbed Bastia’s goalkeeper from 50 yards, helping his side to a 4-1 win on Tuesday. Saivet scored two on the night and is now Pau's captain, having joined the French side on a free agent last summer.
Watch his long range strike below:
The 32-year-old only made five appearances for the Magpies, scoring one great free-kick away at West Ham, but is still a memorable name as his signing epitomised all that was wrong with the club.
Though he only played a handful of times since signing in 2016, the Senegal international was bizarrely still under contract until 2021.
Thankfully, it looks like the days of signing the likes of Henri Saivet are safely behind us, but it’s still incredible to think how far we’ve come in such a short time.
