Nightmare for Eddie Howe & Anthony Gordon as Toon suffer "killer" blow after 3 injury setbacks
Anthony Gordon will be suspended for our trip to West Ham next weekend after picking up his fifth yellow card in seven Premier League games in yesterday's 2-0 win over Burnley.
Eddie Howe has described the winger’s suspension as an ‘absolute killer for us’ with the former Everton man enjoying such a great start to the new campaign.
Gordon has so far provided two goals and two assists in the Premier League, as well as winning two key penalties at St James’ Park in the last couple of weeks.
The 22-year-old was given his fifth yellow card for kicking the ball away. It was a dubious decision as he didn't seem to hear the whistle, but it's a huge blow when we've just seen Sven Botman, Callum Wilson and Joelinton suffer new injury setbacks.
Asked about his suspension, Howe said - "It's an absolute killer for us. Anthony has been in great form and has added so much to the team. A needless yellow card."
