Newcastle set to reignite interest in £40m man after superb start to 2023/24 season - Report
Newcastle United are plotting a January move for Crystal Palace's Joachim Andersen, according to reports.
This comes from Football Insider, who report that we'll launch a fresh bid for the centre-back in January after having a late offer rejected over the final days of the summer window.
It's believed we are long-term admirers in the Danish international, who was regularly linked with a move to St James' Park over the summer. However, The Guardian reported that an asking price of £40m was deemed too much, despite serious interest.
A few months later, the 27-year-old has enjoyed a superb start to the 2023/24 Premier League season. He's scored twice - one being a winner in Saturday's 1-0 victory over Man Utd - has helped them to three clean sheets and hasn't missed a minute of football so far.
Stylistically, he's very similar to the ball-playing Fabian Schar and would improve our depth on the right side of centre-back, but Palace's asking price would have to come down to make a deal happen.
