Great news for Tino Livramento and two hidden signings at Newcastle United

by Olly Hawkins ·

Tino Livramento has been called up to the England U21 squad, marking his return to the Three Lions set up after making a full recovery from an ACL injury.

A host of Newcastle United stars hoping for a senior England call-up where let down on Thursday, as Gareth Southgate snubbed the likes of Anthony Gordon, Nick Pope, Sean Longstaff and Callum Wilson, but Tino is back in the U21 squad for the first time in 18 months.

He's had a tough time of it with that serious knee injury that saw him miss practically all of the 2022/23 campaign and will find it hard to break into our starting XI at present with Kieran Trippier performing so well, yet he showed his class in our 1-0 win over Man City. It was his first competitive start in well over a year and he barely gave Jack Grealish a kick.

The Young Lions take on Serbia Under-21s at the City Ground on Thursday night in the first of two EURO qualifiers, with a trip to Ukraine coming on Monday 16th.

Elsewhere, two hidden signings in Trevan Sanusi and Leo Shahar have also been handed call-ups to England's U17 squad.

There was no official announcement from Newcastle when the pair signed last month, but they've been playing for our U18s in recent weeks, with Sanusi catching the eye in our UEFA Youth League clash with PSG last week; which ended with a last-minute winner for the visitors.
