Newcastle identify three January targets as Toon scouts travel to watch Bundesliga star - Report
Newcastle United have identified THREE targets ahead of the January transfer window, according to The Sun.
They report that we're watching Bayer Leverkusen striker Victor Boniface, believing the physical 22-year-old could add something different to Eddie Howe's attack.
It's believed Toon scouts travelled to Portugal to check out the Nigerian over the international break, watching him in the Super Eagles' games against Saudi Arabia and Mozambique. He arrived from Union Saint-Gilloise over the summer and has scored nine goals in his opening 10 games for Leverkusen.
Elsewhere, the same piece claims that Howe is keen to bring in Arsenal's Emile Smith Rowe. The England U21 star has struggled for game time under Mikel Arteta and is seen as an exciting talent who could thrive on Tyneside.
Last but not least, Man City's Kalvin Phillips is also mentioned as a January target, with Toon chiefs waiting to see if the 27-year-old midfielder will seek a move away from the Etihad in the new year.
