Watch emotional press conference as Howe talks Tonali, Ashworth call, injuries and Palace
After over a week of rumours, conflicting reports and a brief club statement, Eddie Howe has spoken out about Sandro Tonali and the difficult predicament he finds himself in.
He admits the 23-year-old has been emotional and is going through a really tough time, but issued a superb message of support to the Italian and his family, stressing the importance of showing him love and looking after his welfare.
Once again, Howe carried himself impeccably while broaching a really difficult subject for the player, himself and the club, revealing that it was a 'surprise' phonecall from Dan Ashworth where he first heard the news.
He briefly touched on the additional education needed around gambling in football, but refused to comment on any potential ban or whether AC Milan knew about this before they agreed to a sale, instead focusing on the support he can offer to Tonali; who he describes as a "top, top person."
Howe also gave a few spiky responses to certain journalists questioning our decision to sign the player and was not prepared to comment on the betting companies used by the club in light of his gambling addiction.
The boss also shares an injury update on Joelinton, Botman, Isak, Willock and Miley, discusses our recent form, the return of Anthony Gordon, the test Crystal Palace will pose tomorrow and the appointment of Dr Ian Mitchell as our new Head of Psychology.
