Alexander Isak injury update - Good and bad news for Newcastle United?
According to The Mail's Craig Hope, Alexander Isak is 'unlikely' to play again before next month's international break, although his latest groin injury is 'not thought to be too serious.'
The striker pulled out of the Sweden squad earlier this month with a groin problem and it's believed he's suffered a recurrence of the same injury.
If he is missing between now and the next international break in mid November, he'd miss the following five fixtures in league, cup and Europe:
- Saturday 28th October - Wolves v Newcastle (5.30pm)
- Wednesday 1st November - Man United v Newcastle (8.15pm)
- Saturday 4th November - Newcastle v Arsenal (5.30pm)
- Tuesday 7th November - Borussia Dortmund v Newcastle (5.45pm)
- Saturday 11th November - Bournemouth v Newcastle (5.30pm)
The 'good news' is that it isn't considered a serious injury. Also, if it's the same problem he suffered at West Ham a few weeks ago, there may be some hope he can return ahead of schedule, as it only took him the international break to recover after limping off at the London Stadium.
