BREAKING: Double blow for Sandro Tonali as Fabrizio Romano confirms full details of ban

by Olly Hawkins ·

Some 'breaking news' has emerged from Fabrizio Romano this lunchtime, with the full details of Sandro Tonali's ban now confirmed.

The Italian journalist reports that a 10-month ban has now been sanctioned for illegal gambling on football, with the 23-year-old also set to participate in an 8-month gambling rehab plan.

The midfielder has been banned from all football and will eligible to return in August 2024, meaning he'll not only miss the remainder of our Premier League and Champions League campaign, but play no part in Euro 2024, should Italy qualify.

It's believed that he WILL be able to train with his Newcastle teammates during his suspension period and can play in friendlies, but there's no denying it's a huge blow for the player and club.

Tonali featured in last night's 1-0 defeat to Borussia Dortmund, but that will be his last appearance of 2024/25, with him suspended from Saturday's trip to Wolves onwards. All the best Sandro - we hope he gets the help and support needed and comes back stronger in 2024.
