Gareth Southgate recalls Newcastle star but Toon trio left out England squad

England have named their squad for the upcoming international break - the last one of 2023 - ahead of Euro 2024 qualifiers against Malta and North Macedonia.

Kieran Trippier makes the squad and top scorer Callum Wilson has been recalled by Gareth Southgate, indicating that his hamstring issue is NOT serious after he was taken off with 'tightness' in our 2-0 defeat to Dortmund.

However, Anthony Gordon, Nick Pope and Sean Longstaff have all been left out once again. Southgate picks his squads on form, apparently, yet an out of sorts Marcus Rashford is selected ahead of Gordon...

In a way, it does Newcastle a favour given our long injury list and the fatigue throughout the squad, but it feels incredibly harsh on Gordon; one of THE in-form wingers in the Premier League.

As for Pope, he's kept five clean sheets in his last seven league games, but Palace's Sam Johnstone and Aaron Ramsdale (currently out of favour at Arsenal) keep their places instead, along with Jordan Pickford.

In midfield, Southgate has stuck by Kavlin Phillips and Jordan Henderson, despite the former barely getting a game at Man City and the latter playing in Saudi Arabia. Here's the latest squad in full:
