Eddie Howe receives huge boost as new report reveals surprise injury news

Some brilliant news has emerged from The Chronicle today, revealing that Harvey Barnes is back on the grass and closing in on an early return from injury.

The winger suffered a freak toe injury in our 8-0 win over Sheffield United in September and was expected to be out until the New Year. However, Lee Ryder reports that he is running again and making 'good progress' as he hopes join the main group soon.

No specific comeback date has been set, with Eddie Howe reluctant to rush him back, but it's hoped he can play a key role in Newcastle's hectic festive schedule next month after making a quick recovery from the injury.

We face EIGHT games next month and currently have 11 players either injured, suspended or managing niggles (Callum Wilson), so it would be a huge boost to have our summer signings back in action.

Barnes scored one and assisted another on his Premier League debut in a 5-1 win over Aston Villa and will be desperate to rejoin the group after six weeks on the sidelines.
