Former Newcastle midfielder Jonjo Shelvey has scored a stunning goal from the halfway line for his new team Çaykur Rizespor just two months after signing. Watch the stunning strike below:

The 31-year-old joined the Turkish side on loan from Nottingham Forest after a falling out with manager Steve Cooper during last season, despite only signing in January.

Shelvey will be hoping to recapture his best form over in the Super Lig - the potential was always there in his Liverpool and Swansea days, but it just felt as though the effort was never enough.

His time at Newcastle will be remembered fondly, especially for one of the most crucial goals in our recent history against Leeds, but it’s a shame to see how quickly his form has taken such a downward turn.

Despite that, after a number of halfway line efforts, it’s good to see that the former England international has finally scored one and in spectacular fashion to help his team to a 1-0 win.
