Garth Crooks launches rant at NUFC fans and makes embarrassing Mike Ashley comment

After Saturday's 2-0 defeat to Bournemouth, one Newcastle United fan was involved in a heated exchange with Kieran Trippier. The footage went viral and most Toon supporters condemned this over-the-top criticism, but it was ONE fan in amongst thousands at the Vitality. Sadly, that hasn't stopped Garth Crooks from taking a swipe at our entire fanbase.

In his latest piece for the BBC, Crooks has launched a rant at 'Newcastle fans complaining' after the game, suggesting a number of us are ungrateful and irate after our first league defeat since September. Not true Garth - it was ONE fan.

He suggests our own fans don't understand our situation - the long list of injuries, suspensions and 'brutal' fixture list - and talks about our 'jaw-dropping audacity' to question the effort of our team. Again, it was ONE fan, but he ends by asking if we want the Mike Ashley days back! Unbelievable.

See his rant in full below, which paints the fanbase in a bad light following the action of one supporter:

'The Cherries and their new boss have struggled this season but to beat Newcastle at home regardless of their circumstances is a big deal.

'I was amazed to see some Newcastle fans complaining to Kieran Trippier after the game about their defeat. Have they lost their minds? Not only are their team suffering from a long list of injuries, they have encountered three brutal matches in seven days.

'You'd expect your own fans, better than anyone, to understand their team's situation. What jaw-dropping audacity that any Newcastle supporter would question the effort of this current team. Perhaps they should bring Mike Ashley back. Remember those days?'

It's bad enough that the BBC ran with it, but they've also posted his quotes all over their social media, attracting unfair criticism that paints supporters in a bad light.
