Two Newcastle stars set to miss next week's Everton trip if booked vs Man Utd on Saturday

by Olly Hawkins ·

If our injury crisis wasn't enough, Newcastle United duo Kieran Trippier and Sean Longstaff are just one booking away from suspension.

Trippier was booked for his 'foul' on Raheem Sterling in the build up to Chelsea's equaliser last Saturday, leaving him on four yellows for the season alongside Longstaff.

As Premier League rules state, any player that receives five cautions before the midway point of the season faces a one-match suspension, meaning Trippier and Longstaff are at risk of missing our trip to Everton next Thursday if they're booked against Man Utd on Saturday.

The five-yellow ban is scrapped after the 19th game, meaning both must avoid a yellow over our final six league games of 2023 against Man Utd, Everton, Spurs, Fulham, Luton and Nottingham.

After that, any player who picks up 10 yellows before the 32nd game of the season faces a two-match ban. Anthony Gordon is currently on six bookings, with Bruno Guimaraes on five and Jamaal Lascelles sat on three.
