Howe reacts to 4-1 defeat at Spurs - Names big disappointment and two positives

Eddie Howe has spoken to the press following our 4-1 defeat at Spurs on Sunday, revealing how disappointed he was at all four goals we conceded.

Trippier was beaten too easily by Son for their opening two goals, no one tracked Udogie's run, Richarlison's second saw Dubravka stuck in no man's land and their fourth came from more poor goalkeeping from the Slovakian.

Howe feels we didn't do enough defensively 'as a team', accepting we dropped 'a long way short of the standards we've set' and bemoaned our missed chances after 'having our moments' in the match.

The boss admits the players will be hurting after our second heavy away defeat in the space of four days and insists we 'gave everything' - just lack the resources to 'give more' due to all of the injuries in the midst of such a busy run of fixtures. On the plus side, he's hopeful we can bounce back, especially now we have 'massive players' Callum Wilson and Sean Longstaff fit again.

Here's what he had to say after the match, followed by his post-match interview with Sky Sports:

"I was disappointed with all of the goals. As a team today defensively, that was a long way short of the standards we've set.

"The players will be hurting. We had our moments but we gave everything without the resources to give more.

"We've had Everton and Spurs away in short space of time. We have not been at our best. But I have to back the players.

"It is difficult because we play on Wednesday, this is what we wanted. We hoped to have the squad to cope with that but we've had worse injuries than any team that I can remember. 

"These same group of players have gone through five games. Bit we have two massive players back in Callum Wilson and Sean Longstaff. They both did well. 

"Two difficult away games where we've suffered. But we have to take the pain and come out fighting again."
