Updated Premier League table - Spurs v Newcastle even bigger after Saturday's results?
It was a mixed bag of results for Newcastle's top six rivals on Saturday, with two slipping up and two securing big wins to boost their top four hopes.
Liverpool moved top of the league with a 2-1 win at Crystal Palace, with some awful officiating and a late comeback sending them 11 clear of us. Man Utd missed a chance to go four above Newcastle with a disastrous 3-0 defeat at home to Bournemouth, Brighton went level with us following a 1-1 draw at home to Burnley and Aston Villa pulled off another statement win at home, following their midweek win over Man City with a 1-0 win over Arsenal.
It feels highly likely that Liverpool finish in the top four this season and Villa are now nine points ahead of us, making today's trip to Spurs all the more important between two sides bidding to keep pace with Unai Emery's side. Win and we'll leapfrog Man Utd and Spurs, moving into fifth. Lose and we'd move four behind Spurs and could even fall behind West Ham should they beat Fulham in the 2pm kick-off.
Here's the current Premier League table after Saturday's results, followed by all of today's fixtures:
- Everton vs Chelsea - 2pm
- Luton vs Man City - 2pm
- Fulham vs West Ham - 2pm
- Spurs vs Newcastle - 4.30pm
