NUFC player ratings vs Spurs - Two 3s, several 4s, the odd 5 and a few 6s

A really disappointing afternoon in North London for Newcastle United, as too many failed to turn up - fatigue or no fatigue - in a 4-1 defeat at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Here come the ratings. 

Martin Dubravka - 4 - Given no protection at times, but he was really poor for a couple of the goals we conceded. Caught in absolute no man’s land for the third goal and gave away the penalty for their fourth. Could've been a 3/10 but he did make seven games, most of which were comfortable. 

Kieran Trippier - 3 - Son ran him ragged all game, beating him so easily to set up their opening two goals. Will now miss the game against Fulham after picking up his fifth yellow card of the season. Possibly a blessing in disguise as looked absolute shattered.

Jamaal Lascelles - 4 - Should’ve done more at the front post for their first goal and caught napping for their fourth. Probably his worst performance since coming back into the side. Looked to be carrying a niggle.

Fabian Schar - 4 - Cut a frustrated figure and was dragged out of position too often. Son got in on his blindside for their fourth and he lacked the discipline or quality in possession we've seen in previous weeks. Went down early on but managed to carry on.

Tino Livramento - 4 - Really quiet going forward and Brennan Johnson caused him huge problems down the right, getting in behind him too often. He's been superb at left-back, but this was a rare off day for him. 

Bruno Guimaraes - 5 - Couldn’t stamp his authority on the match and looked a little leggy, especially when trying to track back. Fired an early effort just over and showed plenty of fight but ran out of gas.

Joelinton - 6 - Took his goal well and battled away in midfield, refusing to give up when it seemed like others were fading. One of our better players on the day but by no means at his dominant best. 

Lewis Miley - 4 - A complete passenger in the first half, struggling to deal with the directness and physically in Spurs’ midfield. Again, looked a bit lost in the second half. Will come good and is another who may be shattered after five starts in 15 days. 

Miguel Almiron - 3 - His worst display of the season, for me. Missed a big chance in the first half with a really weak effort straight at the Vicario; similar to the Everton chance. Looked really one dimensional, lacked final product all evening and was outmuscled by Udogie, who he didn't track for their opener.

Alexander Isak - 4 - Failed to convert a big chance in the first 10 minutes but Davies did pretty well to put him off. Aside from that early miss, he was always on the fringes of the game and looked like a player either running on empty or protecting himself from injury after so many games in recent weeks. Never hit his stride and needs to offer more, especially on the road.

Anthony Gordon - 4 - A really quiet display from Gordon, who had very little joy aside from his square pass to Isak that Davies got a touch to. Didn't do enough to help out Livramento and never got close to the elusive Porro. 

Substitutes:

Callum Wilson - 6 - Put himself about, drawing plenty of fouls. One in particular from Romero (an absolutely shocker) was lucky not to injure him seriously. Picks up an assist for Joelinton’s strike and should’ve scored late on with a header inside the six yard box.

Lewis Hall - 4 - Strangely isn’t getting many chances, despite the injury crisis. Looked lost when coming on and was  dispossessed quite a few times.

Sean Longstaff - 5 - Added a bit of energy to our midfield, but looked a little rusty. 

Matt Ritchie - N/A - Barely got a kick in the final 15 minutes.
