Jobe Bellingham to Newcastle? - New claims on Sunderland star as Toon talks go public
According to the Daily Mail's Craig Hope, Newcastle were in contact with the family of Jobe Bellingham before he signed for Sunderland in the summer - and it seems our interest hasn't gone away.
Bellingham has enjoyed an impressive first half of the season in the North East and is starting to look like a real promising talent in the second division, where he is following in the footsteps of his brother Jude.
The report states that we are one of a handful of Premier League clubs who are continuing to monitor the 18-year-old, who signed for the Black Cats for £1.5m.
For Bellingham, it's believed a move to the Stadium of Light was deemed a better step in his career at the time, as he was offered regular first-team football. while at Newcastle he would have been placed into one of our youth sides.
However, it seems the club are still hopping to bring the 18-year-old to Tyneside in the near future when he will be looking to make the leap to Premier League football.
