Howe asked if new signing will arrive before FA Cup trip to Fulham
Eddie Howe is pushing to add a new addition to his squad over our two-week break, but had “no idea” if that will happen in time for our next game.
When asked if we’re likely to see a new signing arrive before our FA Cup trip to Fulham on the 27th, Howe said: “I don't know, is the honest answer. I've got no idea as we sit here now. Obviously it would be my intention to try, but let's wait and see."
The 46-year-old has made it no secret that the club don’t have very much to spend with rumours circulating that they’re even struggling to afford the proposed loan fee for Kalvin Phillips, who was on the sidelines on Saturday.
Howe is clearly eager to bring some fresh legs in, which the team desperately needs, but it seems our FFP struggles are very real following his damning h Dominic Solanke admission last week, where he insisted a deal of that magnitude is off the table thus month.
The Man City defeat highlighted the need not just for a defensive midfielder, but for strength in depth, as we saw how key substitutes can be with the crucial cameo appearance from Kevin de Bruyne.
Nobody is expecting miracles from the club, but they cannot afford to head into the second half of the season with the same squad and expect a different outcome even with less injury problems.
