Kieran Trippier update - Hugely conflicting claims now emerge from Germany & England

by Olly Hawkins ·

It's anyone's guess how this Kieran Trippier saga will pan out over the final week of the January transfer window, but there have been some conflicting claims on Wednesday morning.

Some 'breaking news' from talkSPORT states that Bayern Munich are preparing a third offer after their £13m bid was rejected last night. The Mail's Craig Hope adds that 'word from Germany is that Bayern have not yet given up.'

However, an exclusive from Sky Germany's Florian Plettenberg states that Bayern are now 'close to withdrawing from the negotiations.' He states - 'After new internal discussions this morning, Bayern currently do not plan to submit a new offer   Bayern bosses are unwilling to pay any price and they don't want to do anything unreasonable. Bayern was willing to pay €15-16m, no more. This offer was rejected by Newcastle yesterday.'

So, the English media seem to think Bayern are going nowhere and will test Newcastle's resolve with a third offer - Luke Edwards reported last night that Bayern 'have a chance' if they offer £20m plus. However, Sky Germany seem to think the Bundesliga giants are ready to move on and have no plans to submit a new offer.

Newcastle will be in no rush to sell our vice captain from a footballing perspective. But with FFP constraints, his age and the fact he's approaching the final year of his deal, there'll be a temptation to cash in while we can still demand a decent fee.
