Newcastle contact Valencia over potential transfer - Report

Newcastle United have enquired about the availability of Valencia midfielder Javi Guerra, according to reports on Friday afternoon.

In a transfer column approved by Fabrizio Romano, La Liga reporter Matteo Moretto reports that we have been in contact with the Spanish club over a potential move for the highly-rated 20-year-old.

This isn't the first time we've been linked with the Spanish U21 international, as Marca reported last September that we were watching Guerra ‘very closely’ following his impressive start to the season.

The 6ft 2' midfielder has operated as a No 8 and No 6 this season, scoring four and assisting once in 19 appearances in the league so far.

Valencia are believed to have financial issues and may need to sell some of their top assets. However, Guerra is an academy graduate who has recently played down suggestions of him leaving this month.
