David Ornstein reveals message from Toon chiefs on £200m trio
According to The Athletic's David Ornstein, a 'significant sale' is imminent at Newcastle United - but the club have no plans to sell Bruno Guimaraes, Alexander Isak or Sven Botman.
When Darren Eales highlighted the importance of player trading earlier this month, some feared the worst and presumed that one of Bruno, Isak and Botman would be sold for big bucks to help our fight against FFP/PSR restrictions.
However, while certain sales are inevitable, Ornstein claims that our owners 'immediately pushed away' from suggestions that the trio - worth a combined £200m according to Transfermarkt figures - will be sold when asked to clarify our stance on outgoings.
Speaking on the Sky Sports Transfer Talk Podcast, here's what he's had to say:
“The word within football is that an outgoing is going to happen at Newcastle whether it’s January or the summer there has to be a significant sale."Off the back of that came reports that it would be one of the star names like Botman, Guimaraes, or Alexander Isak, but I was immediately pushed away from those names, those are the players Newcastle want to keep and build with."
We may be powerless from losing Bruno if his £100m clause is activated this summer and he is tempted by the move on offer. However, it would be helpful if the club can work within FFP while selling the likes of Miguel Almiron, Callum Wilson and other ageing assets; not the spine of our first team.
