Newcastle agree to huge clause and £3.5m package for January transfer - Report

Manchester Evening News have revealed some of the details behind Alfie Harrison's move to Newcastle United after it was announced last night that contracts have been signed.

They reveal that Newcastle have agreed on a 40% sell-on clause, sweetening the deal for Man City and guaranteeing them a sizeable payout should he go on to reach his full potential on Tyneside.

MEN Sport also report that the deal could be worth £3.5m after add-ons, but state that a 'nominal fee' has been paid upfront for the 18-year-old talent.

Fabrizio Romano revealed last night that the midfielder will sign until 2027, with that contract containing the option of a further year.

Harrison has bagged eight goals and four assists in eight appearances at U18 level this season, earning him a call-up to Man City's U21 squad. He was also pictured training with Pep Guardiola's first-team just a few months ago.

The Mail report that Paul Midgely - Newcastle's head of youth recruitment - played a 'key role' in bringing the teenager to Newcastle, having worked with him at City prior to his move to the North East in 2022.
