Former Toon target become available on loan - One to watch after Isak injury?

by Olly Hawkins ·

According to reports, there's a familiar name up for grabs ahead of tonight's 11pm deadline.

Hugo Ekitike was heavily linked with a move to St James' Park in recent transfer windows and Fabrizio Romano reveals that PSG are 'actively' seeking a temporary move for the forward.

The Frenchman was close to joining Newcastle in that same transfer window, only to sign for Ligue 1 giants PSG instead. Since then, he's struggled for minutes (shock horror), but remains a player we pushed to sign prior to Alexander Isak's arrival.

It's highly unlikely to happen so late in the day. However, the extent of Alexander Isak's groin injury might change our stance.

Eddie Howe cast doubt over our ability to make a late signing on Tuesday night, questioning if it would be possible even if Isak was set for a spell on the sidelines, but it makes you wonder if we'd act should scan results come back negatively on the Swede.

It's a long shot, but Ekitike might just be one to watch between now and 11pm, especially if we manage to move on a fringe player in the coming hours.
