Newcastle United announcement - Another new contract now made official

Newcastle United have announced that Emil Krafth has signed a one-year extension at St James' Park.

The Swede was due to be out of contract this summer, but he's now agreed to extend his stay by a further 12 months to keep him on Tyneside until the end of the 2024/25 season.

Krafth has featured nine times this season, impressing at centre-back in our Carabao Cup win at Old Trafford before impressing in December's 3-0 win over Fulham in the Premier League.

With Javier Manquillo leaving for Spain and Tino Livramento playing most of his minutes at left-back this season, the 29-year-old has proven to be a solid squad man for Eddie Howe after recovering from a serious knee injury suffered 18 months ago.

He follows Fabian Schar in signing a 12-month extension at the club, with the Swiss international committing to a new deal last month before Lewis Miley signed a long-term just a few weeks ago.

Speaking to NUFC.co.uk after putting pen to paper, Krafth said: "I am delighted to extend my time here and commit to Newcastle United for another year.

"Personally, it's been a journey of ups and downs since I joined the club, but I feel at home here and I want to repay the faith and support shown in me, especially during my recovery from injury.

"It's a really exciting time for the club on and off the pitch and I'm so pleased to have the opportunity to continue being a part of that and hopefully help the team finish the season strongly."
