Fabrizio Romano: Dan Ashworth accepts Manchester United proposal
According to Fabrizio Romano, Dan Ashworth has informed Manchester United that he's ready to accept their proposal.
It's been widely reported over the past 24-48 hours that the 52-year-old is their top target following the arrival of INEOS investment, and Romano claims he has 'said yes' to the Red Devils.
He reports that Ashworth considers this a big opportunity and project, while others claim his relationship with Sir Dave Brailsford - INEOS' director of sport - is another key factor.
Romano states that Man Utd are now eager to negotiate a compensation package with Newcastle United, but are determined to bring Ashworth to the club now; not wait for 12 months of gardening leave to get their man.
A real shame to see Ashworth jump ship at the first opportunity when he was supposed to be overseeing a long-term project on Tyneside. Sadly, it seems inevitable that he now ends up at Old Trafford.
