Newcastle suffer another huge injury blow - Awful news for Callum Wilson & Eddie Howe
Callum Wilson looks set for yet another lengthy spell on the sidelines, with Craig Hope revealing that the forward will undergo surgery surgery on his pectoral surgery.
He reports that the 31-year-old will miss 9-12 weeks, ruling him out until the end of April at the earliest after suffering the injury late on in last weekend's 3-2 win at Nottingham Forest.
Just as we get a few back from injury, we lose another. Awful news for Wilson and a huge blow for Eddie Howe, who will be without a fit striker this weekend and reliant on Alexander Isak - currently sidelined with a groin problem- staying fit for the next three months.
Wilson has scored eight goals in 22 appearances this season but has already missed 13 games in all competitions through injury, with hamstring and calf problems keeping him out in previous months.
It's sad to say as he's been a great servant at Newcastle, but this summer feels like the time to sell given his age, contract situation - he's approaching the final 12 months - and injury record that shows no sign of improving.
