OPTA are backing Newcastle United to finish the season in 8th after putting the remaining fixtures through their 'supercomputer.'
They back us to end the season on 57 points, believing we'll finish five points behind Man Utd (6th), one point behind Chelsea - who they are now backing to finish 7th - and a few points ahead of West Ham (9th) and Brighton (10th).
The statisticians also feel Man City will win the title on 86 points, with Liverpool in second, Arsenal third and Spurs sealing a top-four finish ahead of Unai Emery's Aston Villa.
According to OPTA's current projections, this will be the final Premier League table based on the remaining fixtures this season:
- Man City - 86.07 points
- Liverpool - 85.29 points
- Arsenal - 82.72 points
- Tottenham - 70.23 points
- Aston Villa - 69.63 points
- Man Utd - 62.41 points
- Chelsea - 58.84 points
- Newcastle - 57.35 points
- West Ham - 55.47 points
- Brighton - 54.61 points
Last night's 3-2 defeat at Chelsea was a real setback, gifting three points to a European rival, but we do have a kind run in, facing six bottom-half sides, along with West Ham, Brighton and Spurs still to come at St James' Park.
