Newcastle set to push ahead with transfer plans after Eddie Howe agreement - Report

As revealed by The Telegraph, Newcastle United have held positive clear-the-air talks with Eddie Howe and will now press ahead with transfer plans with a list of targets drawn up.

Luke Edwards reports that the board were 'alarmed' by Howe's comments last Friday as he revealed concerns over recent changes at the club and were eager to immediately address a situation threatening to leave our summer in limbo.

It's believed Toon chiefs have reassured Howe that he WILL hold 'significant power' moving forward and have a key voice in recruitment meetings, with an agreement that he will be involved in all major decisions and that no deal will be forced on him following Paul Mitchell's arrival as our new recruitment-focused Sporting Director. The Telegraph state that one of Howe's key worries was our new transfer guru signing a player he did not want.

Now this has been settled, for now at least, Howe has agreed to receive a shortlist of players from Paul Mitchell as we prepare to crank up our pursuit of a right-sided centre-back and right-winger, with those named expected to be a mixture of overseas and domestic talents.

With doubts around Sean Longstaff and Callum Wilson's future - both have just one year left on their current deals - it's thought a midfielder and striker could also be targeted.
