Newcastle launch new bid for Marc Guehi after Crystal Palace talks - Report
According to reports this morning, Newcastle United have launched a new improved bid for Marc Guehi - but it's been rejected by Crystal Palace.
The Mail's chief reporter Sami Mokbel reveals that our second offer - thought to be just shy of £50m - has been turned down by the Eagles, who are insisting on a 'minimum of £65m' for the centre-back.
The report goes on to say that discussions are ongoing with a hope of finding a 'positive outcome', as it seems Palace are willing to reluctantly cash in on the 24-year-old now he's entered the final two years of his contract.
It's believed 'productive' talks have taken place between sporting director Paul Mitchell and Palace co-owner Steve Parish, suggesting we are edging closer to an agreement. However, it appears there is currently a gap of at least £15m between our latest bid and the £65m fee Crystal Palace are holding out for.
Hopefully a compromise can be reached soon, with Newcastle fans anxious to secure a major summer signing with just over a week until the new season kicks off.
