Marc Guehi update - New details of fourth bid now made public after Crystal Palace talks
According to The Times, Newcastle United's fourth bid for Crystal Palace's Marc Guehi is worth £65m.
It was revealed by The Mail's Sami Mokbel earlier today that we've launched another bid for the 24-year-old after our offer of £55m plus £5m in add-ons was rejected on Wednesday. However, details of our latest bid have now emerged.
The Times' North East reporter Martin Hardy states that our offer is £65m with add-ons included. It's been widely reported that the Ealges are demanding at least £65m for the centre-back, but Hardy states that they value the England international at more like £70m, as 20% of the final fee will be heading to Chelsea due to the sell-on clause they inserted into his £18m move back in 2021.
It's been suggested that a breakthrough is now 'close' in Mokbel's piece this morning, so let's hope it's fourth time lucky for the Magpies and we finally strike a deal.
The same report reveals that Crystal Palace are looking at Wolfsburg's Maxence Lacroix, Chelsea's Trevoh Chalobah and Bayer Leverkusen's Odilon Kossounou as a potential replacement.
