Marc Guehi update - David Ornstein reveals latest bid and Crystal Palace's demands

The Athletic's David Ornstein has issued an update on the Marc Guehi saga this morning, revealing that Crystal Palace are demanding £65m plus £5m in add-ons for their captain.

He reports that Newcastle's latest bid was £60m plus a guaranteed £5m in add-ons. This is yet to be accepted and it's claimed we are 'at our limit' with this offer, leaving us exploring others options are Palace stand firm on their valuation of the player.

Ornstein adds that Guehi is also appreciated by Liverpool, who are looking at centre-backs should Joe Gomez leave, coupled with the fact Virgil van Dijk is out of contract in 12 months time.

However, Newcastle are the only team who have held 'meaningful talks' with Palace over a deal for the 24-year-old, but discussions have reached an impasse for now, with the two clubs currently £5m apart.

Hopefully there's a breakthrough one way or another this week, whether it's striking a compromise with Palace or making progress with another centre-back target with next Friday's deadline edging closer.
